Pressing And Hard Times

What should we do when we face difficulties? We must press. Press means to "exert influence on; to entreat; to follow through; to force or push one's way; to take hold of." Listen to those verbs: exert, entreat, follow through, force, push, and take hold. That's what we're supposed to do when it gets tough.

1) Press in
Don't move away from God but move closer. It's in the tough times that we need to press in closer to our faith. Most people do the opposite. They quit attending church. They stop reading their Bible. They start questioning God. No, that's when we need to believe with a greater faith. That's when we need to make our mind up to run to Jesus and hold on tighter.

2) Press through
Everything is temporary. It will not last forever. Look forward in your life. Look to something better and believe toward that goal. Then, as you move toward that dream, you will be moving past that difficult time. You may not even know that you are moving through the pain. Then, one day, you look back and see that it's behind you. God is going to get you through to the other side. I promise. Press through your difficulty. Don't give up!

3) Press on
You have to keep going and not look back. Keep facing the tough things in your life the same way: with determination, with faith, with joy, with positive hope, and with confidence. Jesus said, "In this world, you will have trouble. But be of good cheer because I have overcome the world." What Jesus is promising us who follow Him is that we share in overcoming the world's troubles because what belongs to Him belongs to us. So keep pressing on!

Pressing is not easy. Not everything in life is easy. The good things are worth pressing to get. Press in, Press through, Press on.
