It's so important to change what we say, what we speak. Sometimes we are our worst enemies. We choose our words. Whether we like it or not, our words make a huge difference. They have an impact one way or another. The biggest impact, believe it or not, is on our own selves. Our minds hear what we say as directives, not options. What you say is what you get!
"She'll never change." Well, if that's what I say, then that's how I will view her, and my actions towards her will prove it. Fathers and husbands can change the atmosphere and direction of their homes by the words they speak. Try it! It's the truth. We can destroy our children's self- perception and confidence in just a few seconds with the words that we spew at them. We can also speak a blessing and encouragement to them and watch them beam with confidence and joy.
In Mark 11, Jesus opens this truth in the story of the fig tree. He basically says that when we speak and believe what we say, it's a done deal: you will have what you say.
We need to choose our words carefully. Your life can change when your mouth changes. You can change the world around you by the words you speak to that world. Don't believe it? Try it for yourself. See how powerful your faith talk really is.
