Your Future

Our Pastor turned 59 today. We had a big birthday celebration and presents to honor him. While he was opening the presents one of our sisters fell ill, and everyone gathered around to pray for her. She didn’t get better. It seemed that she got worse. We finally had to call an ambulance because all the signs indicated that she might be having a heart attack.

What’s your future hold? Got things squared away? Ready? What if tomorrow’s the last day? I just read about President Gerald Ford’s passing. He was 93. My friend, Jimmy, went home at 40. Cancer got him. I hate cancer! My dad is 73. I ask myself occasionally, “I wonder how much longer Dad has?”

The cool thing is that my dad’s future is set. That is if the Bible is true. He’s ready. I wonder if he’s ready with no regrets. I feel like I have not quite accomplished what I’m here for. I’d like to finish the race.

The future is in the Father’s hands. But He offers us a future. Not just the future in Heaven. He offers an amazing future of hope and success and provision and fruitfulness for this life we live in right now. Today! Tomorrow! It’s all found in His presence. You will not find it in His hand but in His heart. He rewards those who seek Him. Find your future; live your future. Find your Father!

I often wonder, "How much longer do I have?" You've been a great infulence on me this past year. Thanks for being one of a few key people God used to help make a difference in my life this past year. I wish you and S a healthy and prosperous 2007.
