It’s in the present tense: “is.” He is right now, this present moment, my shepherd. It’s personal: “my.” He is my personal shepherd. I trust Him. I mind Him. I follow Him. I need Him. I hear His voice. I stick close. I know Him intimately.
Let’s see if I can open some doors, just with a few questions. But don’t answer the questions quickly. Think about them. Like on the TV show, “Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?” make it your “final answer.” Here goes!
*Who is really in charge of your life?
*Why did you become a Christian? Not How? Why?
*Has that reason or those reasons changed?
*Where is He leading you?
*Do you know His voice? What’s He saying?
*Do you trust Him? Why? What’s the proof?
*What does it mean to follow? Are you following? What’s the proof?
*What makes your relationship with Him intimate?
Is that your “final answer”?
“The LORD is my shepherd.”
